Shahid Tondgooyan Petrochemical Company is the largest producer of strategic and important products of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) and Pure Terephthalic Acid (PTA)

Shahid Tondgooyan Petrochemical Company has three manufacturing units consists of Chemical, Polymeric, and Textile.

Manufacturing Units

Chemical Unit:

The chemical unit consists of PTA1 and PTA2 plants. Their feeds are Para-xylene and Acetic Acid and annually produce 700,000 tons of Pure Terephthalic Acid (PTA). The products of this unit are used as lubricants in the preparation of industrial adhesives and the production of Polyethylene Terephthalate.

Polymeric Unit:

The Polymeric unit of this complex consists of two sections; PET1 and PET2. PET2 has four sections or POLY and PET2 has three sections or POLY.

The feed of this complex are PTA and Mono Ethylene Glycol and produces 336 thousand tons per year of bottle grade and 551 thousand tons per year of fiber grade.

This complex is capable of producing different grades of bottle and fiber such as FH PET, HB PET، Super Bright, CD PET, … and the capacity is up to customer demand. The products in various industries such as textile industry for the production of fibers, engineering resins in the automotive industry, production of food and sanitary containers in the packaging industry, production of surgical thread in the medical industry, production of photographic and cinematographic in the film industry, are used.

Textile Unit:

The textile unit of this company has two sections for Polyester Fibers STAPLE and Polyester Fibers thread POY. The feed of both sections is a molten polymer, and the production capacity of each is 66 thousand tons per year.

Textile products are used in the production of various goods, for example, Staple can be used in the production of bedding, machine-made carpets, rugs, and blankets. For poy can be used in producing of sportswear, knitted fabrics, rumble cloths, and curtains.
