About Us

Shahid Tondgooyan Petrochemical Company (STPC), as a Public Joint Stock Company, is constructed on April 26, 1998, in an area about 34 hectares southwest of Iran in Khuzestan province. It is located in the northeast of the Persian Gulf Coast at a distance of 5 km From Imam Khomeini port in site IV Petrochemical Special Economic Zone. Pure Terephthalic Acid (PTA) and Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) are the most strategic products of the company. 

The National Petrochemical Company (NPC), considering the expanding market of consumption of these products as domestic and abroad, as well as to fulfill part of its obligations in the second five-year plan of the Islamic Republic of Iran, implementing this plan with the following objectives:

  • Supply of raw materials for downstream units in the country's textile and packaging industries and currency savings
  • Access to global markets and generate foreign exchange earnings
  • Move towards self-reliance and the transfer of advanced technology
  • Transfer of knowledge and training of specialized human resources
  • Create employment in downstream industries
  • Contribute to the economic and social development of the country

Pure Terephthalic Acid (PTA)

PTA is one of the most important raw materials for the production of resins of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET). The growth of production and consumption of which has been very significant in the world.

Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET)

PET is one of the most important polyesters that can be used in the production of synthetic fibers and cotton for the textile industry, the production of soft drinks bottles, cans, and containers used in the food industry, pharmaceutical and health packaging, as well as the production of plastic films.

Also, Shahid Tondgooyan Petrochemical Company is the producer of two important products, polyester yarn (POY) and polyester fiber (STAPLE).

The license of the PTA-1 project, which was launched in May 2005, is with the Italian company named Technimont.

The license of the PET-1 project, the various units of which were launched in the years 2004 to 2006, is with the German company named Lurgi Zimmer.

The license of the PTA-2 project, which was launched in 2005 with MCC Japan, and the PET-2 project, its different units were increased capacity and were re-launched in 2015 to 2019, is with Noyvallesina of Italy.

The STAPLE unit, which was launched in 2009, is licensed by the German company NEWMAG, and the POy unit, which was launched in 2012, is licensed by the German company Barmag.

The nominal production capacity of this complex is more than 1.5 million tons per year.
